As the school counselor, I work one-on-one and in small groups with kids when support is needed and teach Life Skills class, which all grade levels attend. In Life Skills, students receive explicit instruction on various social-emotional, academic, and career/college-readiness skills like conflict resolution, emotional regulation, organization, and goal setting. I love seeing my students put the skills we've learned into practice!
All students are welcome to speak with me if they need support. While I certainly help students who are experiencing serious challenges, I also spend lots of time helping with normal everyday childhood issues. All children deserve to have trusted adults they can process their feelings with safely and I am a resource available to everyone.
I am a Blessed Sacrament alum and it has been a joy to experience the care and community here again as an adult. I get to see my mom whenever I stop down in the office (yes, Mrs. First is my mom) so I feel pretty lucky! When I'm not at school, I'm usually making art or reading a good book.
