School Uniform

Parents: You are responsible for ensuring your child's compliance with the school’s uniform dress code on a daily basis. If your student comes to school without the proper uniform, you will be called to bring the appropriate items.

Uniform Infractions: Students will get three reminders about the rule and the date of each instance will be recorded. If the student wears shorts, or a skirt/dress/jumper, that is too short, he/she will have to wear pants for the rest of the year. Other infractions will also follow the three reminders convention.



Overview:  The school uniform is required Monday through Thursday for all students, including Early Childhood, and includes a collared shirt, twill pants or shorts, skirts and jumpers in school colors. Wearing a spirit-wear sweatshirt or a plain sweatshirt or sweater in uniform colors is allowed for warmth, but the uniform shirt must be worn below it on Mondays - Thursdays. 

Fridays are School Spirit days! All students may wear their BSS spirit-wear shirts and sweatshirts on Fridays as well as jeans (pants, not shorts or cutoffs) or uniform bottoms. More specifically:

• Students may wear spirit wear t-shirts/sweatshirts or plain t-shirts/sweatshirts in school colors (black, white, or gray) and jeans MOST Fridays during the school year. If we have Mass on Friday, the regular uniform is required. 

• Fridays are NOT be a “dress down” or “comfy cozy” day but a “Spirit” day.  If students do not wish to wear jean pants, they should wear their regular uniform pants, shorts, skirts or jumpers.

• We will, occasionally, schedule some Fridays as dress down or comfy cozy days but these will be the exception and will be announced in advance. When in doubt, have your student(s) wear the uniform!
  

Spirit wear is sold periodically throughout the school year and in the summer before the school year starts - announcements about Spirit Wear availability will be in our weekly eBlast and on our school social media pages.

Standard Uniform Detail: Our Lands' End school uniform (specifics are shown when you enter the BSS code: 900167180 on the LE website or by following this link) is the standard for color and style. Parents may purchase look-alike clothing from other vendors but items must meet all color, fabric, style and length specifications.

NOTE: The black and gold plaid skirts and plaid, khaki and gray jumpers and polo dresses must be purchased from Lands’ End. 

FULL UNIFORM IS REQUIRED MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.

• shirts: black, white, gray
• shorts: black, khaki
• pants: black, khaki
• skirts: Lands' End black/gold plaid only
• jumper: black/gold plaid, khaki, gray Lands' End only
• polo dress: Lands' End black
• tights/leggings: black, white (may be worn under pants, shorts, skirts, jumper or dress)
• sweaters, cardigans, crew-neck sweatshirts, fleece jackets, vests: black, white, gray (all must be worn over a collared shirt)
• BSS spirit wear sweatshirts (must be worn over a collared shirt and hoods must be down inside school)

• shirts: long-sleeved polo, short-sleeved polo, or turtleneck
• shorts: twill (full elastic waist for early childhood and primary only), must fall close to the knee
• pants: twill (full elastic waist for early childhood and primary only)
• skirts: knee length or below, Lands' End black/gold plaid only
  • Little Girls sizes 4-6X

• Students in pre-K - 3rd grade do not change clothes for gym class but should have a separate pair of gym shoes.
• Students in grades 4-8 must change into gym clothes and gym shoes.
• Required gym clothes for grades 4-8 include a crew neck t-shirt, black athletic shorts with at least a 7-inch inseam, socks and gym shoes. Leggings or spandex may be worn UNDER the gym shorts but not solo.
• Students in grades 4-8 must change into gym clothes or their participation grade will be lowered for the day.
• School will provide black gym shorts to students in grades 4-8. Students will provide their own crewneck t-shirt, socks and gym shoes.
  • Students without the uniform gym shorts and/or other parts of the required gym uniform will be marked down 50% in their daily participation grade for each day the required parts of the gym uniform are missing.
  • Wearing school-issued shorts is MANDATORY for students in grades 6-8.
  • Wearing school-issued shorts is OPTIONAL for students in grades 4 and 5.
  • School-issued shorts must be laundered and returned at the end of the year (deadline will be announced) or parents will be billed a $50 replacement fee via FACTS.

• Logos are available on many uniform items but adding the logo is NOT required.
• Leggings may not be worn except under a skirt, dress, or other garment.
• 8th grade only: As a special privilege, 8th graders may wear BSS spirit wear shirts at any time except during Mass (typically on Wednesday). Uniform pants/shorts/skirts must be worn with the spirit wear shirt.

• Clothes that expose undergarments, midriff, or parts of the body considered private during normal range of motion.
• Clothing with words or images that may be construed as racist or otherwise demeaning to individuals or groups or promoting violence, drugs, alcohol, and/or sex.
• Pants that are baggy, low cut, skinny/very tight, frayed, torn or cut off.
• Shorts, dresses/jumpers, or skirts shorter than knee length.
• Shirts without collars except for gym and spirit wear.
• Athletic shorts/pants (except for gym), sweat pants or wind suits, gripper pants.
• Shirts hanging lower than uniform shorts.
• Excessively high heeled shoes or boots.
